A Tribute to Slim : Warren Beamish was a native of Michigan, but he lived most of his life in Chadron, Nebraska, where few folks knew about his extraordinary war record. Although our families were friends for many years, it was only recently that I discovered that he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his heroism during the invasion of Sicily.

Bee's 90th Birthday : We were fortunate to help share in the celebrating of Bernice (Bee) Ferrier's 90th Birthday Party at the Portwood Pavilion in Seymour, Texas on March 3, 2007. Bee's daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Pat Vaught, are dear friends of ours since our days in Mississippi. We're blessed with their friendship -- and with getting to know their extended families. The birthday gathering was orchestrated primarily by Linda and her brother, Don Ferrier, and Don's daughters Heather and Lacey. These are a few of the photos from the event.

Bob Gordon : Dear friend Bob Gordon passed away on June 30, 2007, in Jackson, Mississippi at the age of 69. Bob was a wonderful friend with wit, charm, and a keen sense of caring for others. He was a long-time journalist with United Press International, and served as a top editor for the Hattiesburg (MS) Sun and the Jackson (MS) Clarion-Ledger. Our hearts go out to Bob's widow, Jimmie Ray. Together, they've been an integral part of an annual gathering of old Sunday School friends from Mississippi who are now scattered far and wide. This gallery focuses on Bob, enjoying various of these gatherings in the Smokey Mountains and the Ozarks. You may click on each photograph to get a larger image.
